Firstly the reason I created this site was to simply have a place on the web where I can show what I have done and doing. Being a web developer... I think it makes sense to have a website. I also wanted a place to "blog" articles that I feel may be of use to fellow web developers, I know I've been saved by other web developers blogs before!
Unlike many in my profession I never went to college or university (therefore no student loan :-) ), but left straight from my GCSE's (which I did pretty well in) in 1998 to get a job. My first job was not in the web industry, but in a PR firm called The Rowland Company based in West London where I was an administrative assistant. Although I really enjoyed the job the money wasn't so enjoyable and I didn't really have any career prospects so that's when I started learning HTML and Javascript.
I decided to leave The Rowland Company in 2000 to get my web career started, this is when I joined a small web company based in Earls Court, London called DataDial as a freelancer. Here I was using HTML all day every day and was picking up many other skills also (Photoshop, Dreamweaver etc). I stayed at DataDial for only seven months as I wanted to get full-time employment (those tax return forms drove me insane) and left them in July 2000.
This is when I started at Reading Room Ltd. When I started at Reading Room back in July 2000 the company only consisted of 20+ employers in one cramped Soho, London office. Along with my skills, Reading Room have grown considerably ever since, to now having 70+ employers and four offices (including several in Australia).
Due to working for Reading Room for five years my skills grew from HTML to XHTML, ColdFusion, Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server plus more and will continue to grow. I was also very fortunate enough to be "sent" to the Sydney, Australia office to do some work there back in November 2003 which was a great experience and something I'd love to do again.
I left Reading Room on the 24th June 2005 to tryout freelancing for a while. I did freelancing for a few months but was then offered a tempting offer from a South London based Web Agency, Codegent.
Codegent is owned by two old colleagues of mine from Reading Room, so I already knew them quite well which made the decision easier. I joined Codegent mid-July 2005 and am still working there currenty and have no plans on moving on.
Please feel free to contact me for any reason using the form below. By all means contact me involving freelance work, but I can't promise anything as I always seem to be busy these days.
